These are the "before" pictures. The shower/toilet area was separated by a wall from the vanity area. too many doors, too dark.
There was water damage to subfloor, replacing plywood.
after demo |
This is after the wall was removed, cement board went down and the popcorn ceiling was scraped off. This was the first time removing popcorn ceiling. It was so easy! A spray bottle filled with water was used and then it scrapped right off with a putty knife! I'll be doing the other rooms now I know how easy it is. I would recommend a broom and shop vac for clean up but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. The tiles are just dry fitted for now. It looks so much bigger already!
The small part of the wall was kept due to a vent pipe. (surprise!)
It gave us a place to keep the light switch. We got one that lights up in the dark so you can find it at night. That is cool. For replacing the ceiling light I would like to find an inexpensive crystal one. We'll see.
I have decided to paint the walls white. But I really need a pop of color. I'm staying with the blues and greens, maybe a little purple. I am not sure what what color accent I should use.

Another day:
Well Old Hickory Cabinets is making the vanity for the bathroom and sent over some pictures! It is SO nice! I can't wait for the install. I chose to paint white on white in the bath. So this aged brown look will really pop! The accent colors throught are the jewel tones aka peacock feathers.
just needs a few touches :) |
